Dr. Bendotti is director of the laboratory of Molecolar Neurobiology in the department of Neuroscience at the Mario Negri Institute for Pharmacological Research of Milano, Italy which is made by a group of 10 peoples including scientific staff, post docs and students. Dr. Bendotti is internationally recognized for her expertise in animal model of neurodegeneration, specifically behavioural and neuropathological characterization of mouse models of ALS. Her major contribution in the field was the identification of non-apoptotic death of motor neurons and the characterization of the mechanisms involving the MAPK pathway. Another major contribution is the development of guidelines for the use of preclinical animal models of ALS to test therapeutics. She currently serves as member of the Research Advisory Panel of the MND Association(UK), of the Board of Directors of the Italian Society of Neuroscience and of the Editorial Board of Journal of Neurochemistry. She has been a member of different Italian Ministry of Health Committees for the diagnosis, cure, care and assistance of patients with ALS. Dr. Bendotti is authour and co-authors of more than 100 peer reviewed articles. |
