Elke Bogaert, MSC
Is a PhD student of the department of Experimental Neurology at the University of Leuven, School of Medicine and of the Vesalius Research Center in the Flanders Institute for Biotechnology (VIB) at the University of Leuven under the supervision of Dr. Ludo Van Den Bosch and Dr. Wim Robberecht.
 
Her PhD project is situated within the ALS research performed in the lab and entitled “The regulation of the GluR2 subunit in motor neurons.” She has found that astrocytes and the growth factor VEGF are important mediators of motor neuronal GluR2 expression.
